Hose covers

KNOW YOUR HOSE

Every hydraulic, industrial and refrigeration hose can be subject to:

  • extreme hot and cold weather conditions, UV and other environmental conditions
  • fire and extreme heat in emergency situations
  • heat coming from other elements of the machine the hose is mounted
  • abrasion

That is why choosing a hose with a cover designed for your application is crucial. A typical hose consists of several layers vulcanized together. The cover, as an external layer, serves the following functions:

  • protects the hose structure from damage due to abrasion
  • protects and sometimes insulates the fluid inside the hose from temperature.

MANULI HOSE COVERS

Manuli Hydraulics uses different hose covers on different hose families depending on application:

CONVENTIONAL

Cover for general purpose applications.

Abrasion test result (ISO 6945):
0,25g

Used on:

CONVENTIONAL

TUFF

Cover for heavy duty environments (Weathering, Abrasion and Flame exposure): mining, off shore, roads, transportation, polluted environments, etc.

Abrasion test result (ISO 6945):
0,05g

Used on:

TUFF

SHARC (Super High Abrasion Resistant Cover)

Cover for harsh abrading environments: mining, forestry, waterblasting.

Abrasion test result (ISO 6945):
0,01g

Used on:

SHARC

UHMW PE

Cover for outstanding abrasion resistance in localised positions with metal-to-rubber or rubber-to rubber contacts.

Abrasion test result (ISO 6945):
negligible

Used on:

UHMW PE

BRICKOAT

A special blend of mineral fillers, refractory materials and flame retardant additives has been engineered to provide the outstanding insulation and self-extinguishing properties of the GoldenGuard cover compound. This compound, dubbed BRICKOAT™, exceeds the requirements of API 16D whilst being free from asbestos and other fibrous materials which are known to be hazardous to human health.

This unique cover also guarantees the high standard of ozone and environmental resistance that you would naturally expect from a Manuli Hydraulics hose.
