Hyspec Mining Services opens a new hose workshop at Bissa Gold in Burkina Faso

In May 2012, Hyspec Mining Services implemented a new workshop at the Bissa Gold Mine in Burkina Faso.
This workshop is the third Hyspec workshop in Burkina Faso, and the second workshop implemented by Hyspec at a High River Gold mine. The workshop facility, which is wholly owned by Hyspec, is consigned to the Bissa Gold Mine. It includes all hose racks, shelves, bin boxes, work benches, Manuli cutting, skiving and crimping machines, as well as hose cleaning and labeling equipments, to assemble hoses which meet OEM and first world standards. In addition to the hose workshop facility, Hyspec provides the mine with a consigned stock of hoses, fittings and adaptors, an experienced workshop supervisor, and a team of hose technicians to operate the workshop. The recently introduced Accpac ERP management system allows Hyspec to monitor its stock levels in the workshop on a daily basis, and to resupply the workshop from its regional Ouagadougou warehouse or central warehouse in Australia in a timely manner.
“The mine is still in construction phase”, explains Catherine Mauvais, Hyspec Group Business Development Manager. “The workshop will therefore operate during the day only, until construction is completed. But as soon as the mine moves to production phase, it will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our objective is to keep sufficient stock on site to meet 98% of the mine’s hose requirements when it reaches production stage. In addition, our hose technicians on site will carry out daily inspections of the hydraulic hoses on Bissa Gold’s mining equipments in order to help the customer anticipate on hose failures and keep equipment downtime due to hydraulic failures to a minimum.”
