Meet the Hyspec Team: Nomer Basconcillo
Nomer Basconcillo, a Philippine national, joined Hyspec Mining Services in February 2004, as Store Manager in Ghana. After eight months, he was transferred to Mali as Operations Administrator for Mali and Guinea, to handle purchasing, logistics, warehousing and inventory planning.
Before joining Hyspec, Nomer worked during 12 years for a sales and marketing company in the Philippines. There, he held diverse positions such as Production Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Technical Audit Supervisor, Marketing Planning Supervisor, Internal Quality Auditor for ISO certification, and Business Analyst for Corporate Planning.
In 2012, he became part of the Hyspec Accpac implementation team, and was stationed in Australia for three months, to assist with the implementation of the group’s new stock management and finance ERP in West Africa. In May 2012, he was promoted to the position of Inventory Controller for West Africa. His current responsibilities include the development of tools to improve, standardize and facilitate stock count, ensure inventory accuracy, provide inventory forecasting, document inventory and warehouse procedures, improve stock management, standardize warehouse methods and processes, develop and implement audit quality check procedures for all workshops, and train managers and supervisors to ensure compliance with the company’s supply chain policies and procedures.
In his free time, Nomer likes to read the world news, to watch detective and forensic science TV series, and to play eight or nine ball pool.
“Working in Africa is a real challenge, both logistically and geographically”, says Nomer. “We often have to deal with unexpected situations. However, this forces me to think, plan, act and find new solutions all the time, and I really enjoy these permanent challenges. Knowing that I can actively contribute to the improvement of our operations and services is what makes working with Hyspec so enjoyable. I also enjoy working with experienced Operations Managers and gain additional knowledge from it.”
